Lawrence Brownlee is pleased to announce his 2019-20 season, continuing his presence at leading international opera houses and major orchestra halls. Brownlee’s season launches with a return to the Lyric Opera of Chicago for one of his signature roles as Count Almaviva in The Barber of Seville under the baton of Sir Andrew Davis, followed by a return to Dutch National Opera for another Rossinian comedy favorite as Don Ramiro in La Cenerentola, alongside Isabel Leonard. Brownlee then makes a welcome return to Houston Grand Opera, for his role debut as Fernand in Donizetti’s La Favorite.

Brownlee then switches gears to perform with the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and Münchner Rundfunkorchester, a Gala with Pretty Yende and the Würth Philharmoniker, a concert in his hometown with the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra, a recital alongside Michael Spyresand the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra, and more. He will also give a U.S. tour of solo recitals featuring his critically-acclaimed Cycles of My Being, a song cycle that centers on the black male experience in America today, including performances at Shriver Hall for its Baltimore premiere and at Gardner Museum Concerts for its Boston premiere. His spring includes a house debut at The Dallas Opera in The Barber of Seville, alongside Pretty Yende and Lucas Meachem, and his season concludes with Il Pirata at the Konzerthaus Dortmund and Klangvokal Festival and Beethoven’sSymphony No. 9 at the BBC Proms.
